Races

Stargate Worlds is in the Production Phase. Therefore, any information on this wiki (including the

information in the developer quotes) cannot be taken as concrete facts, and may still change.

Many of the races that were in the series will be present in the game.[1] Many races such as Nox, Asgard, the Ancients, Furlings as well as Unas, all manner of humans will be at least represented by their history and technology if not by their direct presence. Even the replicators may make an appearance.[2][3] There may be alien creatures that have never been seen before.[4] All races will speak the same common language. There might be faction based missions, that are competitive against the other faction in the server.[5]

[edit] Playable Races

Many races from the series were initially speculated upon as playable races. CME has decided to move away from the choose 'Race + Class = Character' paradigm and one's class will determine one's race.[6] Thus you will be able to play as an Asgard, Goa'uld, Human, and Jaffa.[7] As far as factions go, Jaffa and Humans will play for both sides while the Goa'uld and Asgard will play for the evil and good sides respectively.[8]

[edit] Asgard

The Asgard will be a playable race, with only one class. They will be a jack of all trades and use drones, as described in the archetypes section. This playable race does not wear clothes in the show and the design team made the decision to reflect this in the game. Rather than customizable clothes, the Asgard use robots, which are called drones. These drones are an extension of the character, not so much a pet.

[edit] Human

As a human you will have a choice between a number of classes. Put more correctly, as a member of one of these classes you will have no choice but to be human. The human archetypes are Soldier, Commando, Scientist and Archaeologist.[7] See the Archetypes page for more information.

[edit] Jaffa

Jaffa will be present as a race, there will only be one class (funnily enough it's called Jaffa).[7] For more information about the Jaffa see the Archetypes page.

[edit] Goa'uld

The Goa'uld will definitely be a playable race, again with only a single class. Other than the abilities listed on the archetypes page players will be able to switch hosts. There will be some sort of “cost” associated, players will not just be able to switch hosts on a whim.[9]
